The depicted stone sculpture of Maxipes Fík (Maxi-Dog Fig) and his friend Ája is located on the Ohre river waterfront in Kadan. The waterfront also bears the name of this hero of popular Czech cartoon - Nábreží Maxipsa Fíka (Maxipes Fík waterfront).

The sculpture, made of impregnated and colored sandstone, was created by the sculptor František Vlcek from Kadan, and in addition to Maxips Fík, it also depicts his great friend Ája.

Maxipes Fík waterfront (Nábreží Maxipsa Fíka) is a pedestrian and bicycle promenade located in the town of Kadan on the left bank of the river Ohre. The whole embankment is networked by pedestrian and bikers roads.

The town of Kadan decided to combine the character of the cartoon character hero Maxipes Fík with the implementation of the "Strategic Development Plan of the Town of Kadan" in 2004. The construction of the Maxipes Fík waterfront in Kadan created a unique public space for pedestrians and bikers, in which a plethora of artistic and leisure elements are combined (statues, playgrounds, special child attractions etc.). Among other things, an amphitheatre for organizing cultural events was created here. The waterfront construction was done in 2005-2011.

Maxipes Fík is connected with Kadan mainly the place where the whole cartoon takes place - in Ahníkov. This currently deserted and by a brown coal strip mine destroyed village was located about 5 km northeast of Kadan. In addition to the place itself, the cartoon author, the writer Rudolf Cechura, who is a native of Ahníkov and also lived in Kadan for many years. Moreover, the actor Josef Dvorák, who lived in Kadan for a long time, lent his voice to Maxipes Fík.

Maxipes Fík ("pes" in Czech means "dog" so Maxi-Dog Fig is English translation) and little girl Aja (Alice) are popular cartoon characters of Czech children TV animated series. First series was shot in 1975. The author and screenwriter was Rudolf Cechura and the animator was Jirí Šalamoun. Music was composed by Petr Skoumal, the voice was narrated by actor Josef Dvorák. The second series was launched in 1978. In the memory of Maxipes Fík his birthday is celebrated in Kadan (Maxipes Fík was born in Ahníkov, a bulldozed village nearby where Rudolf Cechura was born and Josef Dvorák has lived and acted in Kadan).
