Founded at the end of the 10th century, it was consecrated at the beginning of the 11th century by the bishop of Périgueux. The remains of Saint-Astier were deposited in a crypt which still remains today in the choir where a tomb was found enclosed in an altar. Of the primitive church, there remains only a section of wall on the north side, outside the crypt, the pillars which supported the central dome, and an old bas-relief wedged in the west wall of the aisle. , when the church was restored in the 15th century, after the ruins engendered by the English wars. At the beginning of the 16th century the polygonal apse and the bell tower were built.

Fondée à la fin du 10e siècle, elle fut consacrée au début du 11e siècle par l'évêque de Périgueux. Les restes de Saint-Astier furent déposés dans une crypte qui subsiste encore aujourd'hui dans le choeur où fut découvert un tombeau renfermé dans un autel. De l'église primitive, il ne reste, en dehors de la crypte, qu'un pan de mur sur la face nord, les piliers qui supportaient la coupole centrale, et un ancien bas-relief enclavé dans le mur ouest du bas-côté, quand l'église fut restaurée au 15e siècle, après les ruines engendrées par les guerres anglaises. Au début du 16e siècle furent construits l'abside polygonale et le clocher.
