According to the Ontario birth registration (1885 #005838), George Henry Cowan (son of William James Cowan, farmer, and Sarah Ann Downey) was born in Osgoode township, Carleton county, 19 April 1885.

According to the Ontario marriage registration (1910 #006648), George Henry Cowan, farmer, (son of William Cowan and Sarah Ann Downey) married Miriam Eliza Armstrong in Christ Church Anglican, Huntley, 8 Jun 1910.

According to The Ottawa Citizen newspaper (20 March 1987), George Henry Cowan died 19 March 1987.

Interestingly, George's grandmother Christiana (Bradley) Cowan was also a centenarian buried in this cemetery, marked on the reverse of this monument.
