"Het museum werd geopend in 1991. Het museum wordt beheerd door vrijwilligers van de Archeologische Werkgroep Haarlem (AWH), opgericht in 1970, De werkgroep staat onder leiding van de stadsarcheoloog van de gemeente Haarlem. Archeologische opgravingen binnen de gemeente Haarlem worden door de stad begeleid, daarbuiten door de provincie Noord-Holland.[1]
Het museum bevindt zich in de kelderruimte van de Vleeshal en is geopend van woensdag tot zondag van 13:00 tot 17:00. De toegang is gratis."

"De vleeshal is een historisch gebouw aan de Grote Markt in Haarlem waarin tegenwoordig locatie Hal van het Frans Hals Museum is gevestigd."
"De vleeshal is een prachtig voorbeeld van de noordelijke renaissance, met dien verstande dat op een gotische basisstructuur (grondplan en opstand) renaissance-ornamenten zijn toegepast. Tot de renaissancevormen behoren pilasters, rustica, Toscaanse zuilen (binnen), rolwerken (boven de kelderingangen) en obelisken. Inspiratiebron hiervoor waren voorbeeldprenten van de Antwerpenaar Hans Vredeman de Vries. Stieren- en ramskoppen op de gevels wijzen nog op de oorspronkelijke functie van het gebouw. Het gebouw heeft een zogenoemde Rolwerkgevel."

"The meat hall is a wonderful example of the Northern Renaissance, with the understanding that Renaissance ornaments have been applied to a basic gothic structure (floor plan and curb). The Renaissance forms include pilasters, rustica, Tuscan columns (inside), scrollwork (above the basement entrances). ), and obelisks.
The source of inspiration for this were sample prints by the Antwerp citizen Hans Vredeman de Vries. Bull and ram's heads on the facades still refer to the original function of the building. The building has a so-called Rolling Wall. "
