The Mackay Masonic Temple was built in 1924 on the site of the original two-storey timber Masonic Hall constructed in 1880 which was destroyed by the cyclone that devastated much of Mackay in January 1918.
The Mackay Masonic Temple is a two storey masonry building, the feature of the Temple is the portico formed by four massive Doric columns and entablature, the pediment contains the masonic compass and square symbols fixed to a brick lined typanum, and above the pediment, a brick parapet projects forward over the portico.
