The museum collection is organized thematically. Each floor deals with a specific aspect of coastal lighting and waterway marking. It is not only about the technology, but also about the people behind the technology. The work of the lighthouse keeper is discussed extensively.

On the ground floor, a large information panel provides insight into the development of coastal lighting over the centuries: from a simple fishing fire to a modern lighthouse, with a powerful light.

The theme "navigating along the coast" is central on the first floor. It covers capes, sightlines, light lines and coastal profiles and explains the character of lighthouse lights. A showcase shows old and modern navigation equipment and there are various lamp changers. In this space are also some optics, including a segment of a Fresnel optic that comes from the former high light Zanddijk, near Julianadorp.

The second floor deals with the subjects "fairway marking" and "lightships". There are a number of bright red gas lanterns of different sizes. In a showcase are models of buoys and lightships and there is a large collection of day buoys and buoy lights.

The third floor is entirely devoted to the history of the lighthouses along the Nieuwe Waterweg.

The fourth floor is devoted to the work of the lighthouse keeper as a coast guard.

The fifth floor gives a picture of the light watcher's working area: a small space with simple tools.

The spaces are getting smaller and smaller upwards. The sixth floor has very little floor space.

The most beautiful object of the museum collection can be found in the light house. The original optics with oil lamp from 1893 could be reinstalled in the lighthouse in 2010 thanks to the benevolent cooperation of Rijkswaterstaat. A look at the light house is well worth the long climb up, especially because of the beautiful view over Hoek van Holland and the Nieuwe Waterweg.
