Although the name is new, dating from 1994, when Miguel de Avila, this bookstore has been in business since 1785, when the pharmacist Francisco Salvio Marull opened it as the first shop of this kind.
It's located in the heart of Buenos Aires and it has always been in the center of the political circles, taking advantage of the proximity of the Cafe de Marco and the Colegio Real de San Carlos.
Amongst its customers one can find the names of several presidents of Argentina and many other notorious citizens.
In 1926 the old bookstore was razed and a new one was built on the same spot. The building was designed by the architect Ángel Pascual and the engineer Luis Migone.
