Located in downtown Punta Gorda along the waterfront of the Peace River is Gilchrist Park. Gilchrist Park located at 400 Retta Esplanade consists of 11 acres that stretches along the waterfront. The park is named after Governor Albert Gilchrist, one of the founding fathers of Punta Gorda. A large gazebo is located at the waters edge and in front of it is a compass rose. A large paved area surrounds the compass rose.
