From AD.nl:
From AD.nl:
The water windmill Wiel and Vogelzang dates from 1599. The memorial stone is still there. The valve closed during high river water, so that the leak water did not flow into the polders. In 1845 the lock in the hull broke and the water ran into the polder. To prevent the entire Lopiker- and Krimpenerwaard from flooding, the house next to the lock was demolished to deposit the rubble in the lock. The shell was replaced by a brick version. At the end of the watercourse there was an outside dike mill, the ruin of which is still on the river. The hull was initially outside the dikes. In the case of dike reinforcement, the dike was moved, so that it came to lie inside the dike.
