Het gebouw:
Het stadskantoor van Brielle is gelegen aan het Slagveld 36. Het vervangt sinds 1995 het oude gemeentehuis aan De Markt, waar nu een historisch museum is gevestigd. Voor de ingang, aan de andere kant van de straat, staat een opvallend kunstwerk.

Brielle, ook wel Den Briel, is een stad en gemeente in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland gelegen op het eiland Voorne. De gemeente telt 17.182 inwoners (1 januari 2019, bron: CBS) en beslaat 31,32 km² waarvan 3,71 km² wateroppervlak is. Naast de stad Brielle zelf omvat de gemeente ook de dorpen Vierpolders en Zwartewaal. Brielle zelf heeft 13.475 inwoners. De gemeente maakt deel uit van het samenwerkingsverband Stadsregio Rotterdam en de Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag.
Brielle is gelegen aan het Brielse Meer, een afgedamd gedeelte van de Maas dat zich tot belangrijk recreatiegebied ontwikkeld heeft.
Brielle kent een roemrucht verleden. De meeste bekendheid verwierf het doordat de stad in 1572 als eerste Hollandsche stad werd bevrijd van de Spanjaarden. Dat betekende het begin van het einde van de Tachtigjarige Oorlog. Jaarlijks wordt op 1 april deze bevrijding feestelijk gevierd in een folkloristisch rollenspel. Brielle is echte Hollandse vestingstad en de vestingwerken uit het verleden zijn grotendeels intact gebleven. Er is de gemeente veel aan gelegen om het authentieke "middeleeuwse" karakter te behouden.

The city office of Brielle is located at Slagveld 36. Since 1995 it has replaced the old town hall on De Markt, which now houses a historical museum. In front of the entrance, on the other side of the street, is a striking work of art.

Brielle, also called Den Briel, is a city and municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland located on the island of Voorne. The municipality has 17,182 inhabitants (1 January 2019, source: CBS) and covers 31.32 km² of which 3.71 km² is water surface. In addition to the city of Brielle itself, the municipality also includes the villages of Vierpolders and Zwartewaal. Brielle itself has 13,475 inhabitants. The municipality is part of the partnership of the Rotterdam City Region and the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area.
Brielle is located on the Brielse Meer, a dammed part of the Maas that has developed into an important recreation area.
Brielle has an illustrious past. It gained most fame because the city was the first Dutch city to be liberated from the Spaniards in 1572. That marked the beginning of the end of the Eighty Years' War. This liberation is celebrated annually on 1 April in a folkloric role-playing game. Brielle is a real Dutch fortified city and the fortifications from the past have remained largely intact. It is very important to the municipality to maintain the authentic "medieval" character.
