This is Deport's old cemetery, long inactive and since put out to pasture by Highland Cemetery, just a few miles northwest of here. It hasn't been abandoned, but it does show some signs of neglect, as well as vandalism and subsequent repair. This gray granite headstone is in excellent condition, with the Woodmen Circle emblem on the reverse. The family name, "Thompson", is on the front plinth, with a display of calla lilies at the top, and the inscription reads:

E.O. Thompson
Born June 19, 1877.
Died Apr. 20, 1917.
