The Art-Nouveau synagogue, built by Jewish community of Kutná Hora in 1902, is work of architect Bohuslav Moravec. The synagogue served to its purpose until Nazi's occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939. During holocaust the majority of Jewish citizens of Kutná Hora died in German extermination camps and after WWII (1949) the synagogue was sold to the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. Unfortunately, the original decorative elements of the main facade disappeared as part of the overall reconstruction in 1951. Only now (2013-2014) was the facade rehabilitated with respect to the original plans of the architect Bohuslav Moravec. The characteristic synagogue elements - the Star of David and the surviving records of the Ten Commandments - were also returned.
