Pierrefonds castle, a gem of Picardy heritage
Each year, more than 150,000 visitors roam the stairs, corridors and large halls of the Château de Pierrefonds in the Oise. This fairytale monument stands on a promontory, it is the site of many film shoots.
he first construction of the Château de Pierrefonds took place at the end of the 14th century by the Duke Louis of Orleans. The building was then dismantled in the 17th century. Napoleon III found it in a state of ruins, he then decided to entrust its construction to Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. The architect turns it into a fairytale castle.

Pierrefonds Castle is an imposing fortified castle located in Pierrefonds, in the department of Oise, in the Hauts-de-France region,
at the south-eastern edge of the Compiègne forest, north of Paris. The Château de Pierrefonds presents most of the characteristics of the defensive work of the Middle Ages.
It was rebuilt by Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century, who also undertook major decoration and furniture creation there.
This castle is the subject of a classification as historic monuments by the list of 1862. It is managed by the Center of national monuments.
