The entrance to the Monk Environmental Park is at 1 Hines Road in north Kanata. There you will find an original park sign and an abandoned map board. There's a second original sign at the Goulbourn Forced Road trail crossing. Many years ago there was parking available at that second sign. That second sign is on land which is no longer part of the Monk Environmental Park.
According to the city of Ottawa web site, the Monk Environmental Park survives as three unconnected sections totalling 4.5 hectares (12 acres). The now unconnected remnants suggest that the park no longer includes all of the land donated by the Monk family for future parkland. The Monk House from 1876 can still be seen at 11 Hines Road, actually at the end of Tully Drive. To the Monk family, that building was known as Oaklands.
There are no amenities in this natural green space, passive recreation. Strangely, the official street address would be in the middle of wilderness.
