Handsome bronze sculpture of a Lenni Lenape Indian Chief. It was created by artist William Boyer in 1981, following a commission by the Atlantic County Government offices.
From Wikipedia: "The Lenape, also called the Leni Lenape, Lenni Lenape and Delaware people, are an indigenous people of the Northeastern Woodlands, who live in Canada and the United States." They were among the earliest inhabitants of area of New Jersey.
Full-length male figure of a Lenape Indian. He wears buckskin trousers and boots and holds a cape in his hands. The cape drapes over his proper left shoulder and around his back. His hair is in a Mohawk style. He wears a bearclaw necklace. The bronze sculpture stands on a rough-hewn rock.
