The South West Coast Path is a National Trail of 630 miles starting/ending in Minehead and ending/starting at Poole Harbour. This waymark is for the trail head marker in Minehead, a welded steel construction which depicts a large map of the trail. The trail passes through four counties, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. The length of the path is well waymarked with coast path signs and national trail acorn markers, the regular cliff falls always seem to have a diversion in place quickly.
Itineraries range from 30 days for fast fit walkers to 52 days for a more leisurely journey to explore the coves, beaches and fishing villages. Along the way you'll experience rugged cliffs, picturesque headlands, vest open beaches, sleepy fishing villages and busy holiday town. Estuary crossing add to the fun, some can be cross on stepping stones at low tide other have long inland diversions and many have seasonal ferry services. Weather visiting in winter for quieter experience and big seas or summer to amble along the sun drench beaches there is something for everyone.
