Mont Abbot was born in Oxford in 1902, one of ten children. He moved to Enstone parish when he was three and would live there for the rest of his life. He moved to this cottage in Fulwell, in 1961 ,where he would spend the remainder of his days. After leaving school he went to work on the Ditchley estate initially as a cowman and later a shepherd and Carter. He became known locally as a story teller spinning yarns of local life. His life was documented in an biography "Lifting the Latch" by Sheila Stewart who spent time with Mont collating his story, the book was published in 1983. The Plaque was placed on the 23rd June 2007 being unveiled by Sheila Stewart.
