The first church in St. Peter Parish was built 1629. The present church was built in 1837 in the Georgian style with elements of Gothic architecture. The church features a belfry on the west side with a crenellated roofline making it resemble a medieval tower. The church itself is two stories high. The ground floor has a series of rectangular paned glass windows. The upper floor has paned glass windows with arched tops.
The altar is framed by a Gothic arch on which is inscribed a quote from Genesis 28:17:
THIS IS NONE OTHER THAN THE HOUSE OF GOD AND THIS IS THE GATE OF HEAVEN. ALLELUIA
The church was damaged by a hurricane in the 19th century and most recently a fire on April 21, 1980. It was restored with the support of the townspeople and rededicated by the Bishop of Barbados on February 12, 1983.
