This obelisk is the oldest monument in Buenos Aires, and it's located in the Plaza de Mayo, in front of the Casa Rosada, the presidential palace.

The monument is located in the center of Plaza de Mayo, so to say in the heart of the heart of the city. It was commissioned in 1811, being considered the oldest existent monument in Buenos Aires.

It had an adventurous life so far, with several renovations and a relocation with the square, which happened in 1912, when it was moved 63 meters.
