Statue of Padre Pio, a Capuchin-order monk from San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. Padre Pio experienced stigmata (bleeding from the hands) for over 50 years. He also was linked to many other wonders, such as healing. A full biography may be found here: (

In 2002, Padre Pio was canonized (sainthood bestowed) by Pope John Paul II.
The shrine and statue were conceived in 1997 by local residents Marie and Pete D'Andrea, who returned to the area after a visit to Italy. It was completed in 2002, the same year as Padre Pio's sainthood. The monument is composed of a steel frame covered with white stucco, and inside the monument are the statues of Padre Pio, the Blessed Mother, and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The shrine has a Glove Relic (which is a part of the glove that St. Padre Pio wore to hide his stigma wounds).
Weekly rosary prayer groups meet here, with crowds often in the hundreds. All are welcome to visit and reflect at any time.
The shrine and statue are located at the intersection of US 40 and Weymouth Road. Ample parking on site.
