Located in the rural community of Fort Ogden just south of Arcadia is the Ziba King Memorial Recreation Park. This is a unique park in respect to it is built around the family cemetery plot of Ziba King.
Ziba King was a pioneer settler of Fort Ogden and Arcadia. He started out as a merchant, became a civic leader and judge, and when he died he was the richest cattle baron in the state of Florida. He was a confederate veteran, who also owned a local newspaper, was elected to the Florida Senate, and served as the president of the First National Bank of Arcadia along with prominent positions in several other local banks.
The park located at 3895 SW Georgia St. in Fort Ogden is described on the DeSoto County Parks and Recreation website as follows:
"A unique juxtaposition, set amidst an old urban residential neighborhood, but in a rural location. Urban or rural, however you want to classify it, is worth the trip. The epitome of the "commons" this 5 acre park is essentially the Town Square, the Village Green. Adjacent to the roomy pavilion are bathrooms and a playground, making King's Park a perfect location for a family gathering or company picnic. There is plenty of room to set up a game of horseshoes or for a rambunctious game of volleyball. Underneath the sprawling Live Oaks, soak up the shade and contemplate Old Florida."
Besides the covered pavilion, playground, and restrooms there is plenty of shaded green space for all types of activities and family gatherings. A lovely park in a quiet setting.
