The Eckeburquelle
The source lies on the road between Oberhümmerich and Niederhümmerich in a sharp curve (corner). It used to be framed with four thick quartz stones and you could "draw" water with a bucket.
Before and during the war from 1939 to 1945, Eckebur served to supply people and animals with water shortages. This was particularly true for Rosenheide, which had four houses at the time, and Niederhümmerich, with 6 houses.
Since 1988, the Eckebur spring has served as an inlet to the pond in the Eckeburpark. From here the spring water flows into the Hümmerich brook. In 1995 a retaining wall was built at Eckeburquelle to secure the slope on the mountain side. In 2006 the source was redone with stones and 5 steps. The old spring stones lie on top as an ornament.
