The former Harbour Board building is a two-storeyed rendered masonry structure built in 1898 and has an arcaded colonnade to the ground floor and balcony to the first floor, each of which consists of three elliptical arches. The parapet has a raised central section which has the name HARBOUR BOARD ESTD 1896 in relief lettering.
The building was purchased by the Fitzroy Shire Council in 1977 and was used as offices until 1995. The building is now privately owned.
