Imagine the Stories was the People's Choice Award in 2016. This is a great honor to the artists, Rabi'a and Carl Schlichting, who created this wonderfully crafted sculpture. It is now a part of Castlegar expanding collection of sculptures and other artworks displayed throughout the town. Imagine the Stories is now on permanent display on the side of the Castlegar Public Library.
Talented artists Rabi'a and Carl Schlichting have won two People's Choice Awards; Imagine the Stories in 2016 and Housing Crisis in 2019.
Rabi'a, who is now over 60 years of age, collects and recycles scraps of rusty metal and from these discards, she and Carl Schlichting create their intriguing sculptures. Imagine the Stores tells the visual stores of living in a housing project. The building was crafted into small apartments giving glimpses of the interiors. I particularly like the laundry strung out to dry in the afternoon sun.
The creative use of broken glass and mirrors are placed to reflect the passersby.
