Schotia Place was constructed in 1898-1899 as a retail market and features a symmetrical facade of red bricks laid in English bond with white mortar, twin cupolas on short polygonal bases topped with globe lights.
The former Rockhampton City Markets were renamed Schotia Place, on 15 November 1974when it reopened as a community centre for senior citizens
