Cap Moule à Chique Lighthouse at Vieux-Fort, Saint Lucia was built in 1912. At an elevation of 527' above sea level it is one of the highest lighthouses above sea level in the world.
The cylindrical concrete and stucco tower is 29' high. It is painted white with a red lantern with a Fresnel lens. Due to the poor condition of the tower, the light itself has been moved to a nearby concrete post. The automatic electric light has a focal plane of 745' and flashes white every 5 seconds.
The stamp was issued by Saint Lucia April 30, 1971 as part of a set of two stamps issued for the opening of Beane Field Airport.
