Information about the sculptor, Ken Ross, and the sculpture itself appears non-existent. The Farmers Branch Animal Adoption Center was built in 2009, so either this sculpture was placed for the grand opening, it arrived later, or it could have already existed and was moved here, we don't know. It features a child who is fairly androgynous, a boy or a girl, sitting on a bench and using a stethoscope to examine a very patient dog that looks to be a basset hound with those droopy ears and sad eyes looking back at the "doctor". The child looks to be wearing a t-shirt covered by overall shorts, as well as an oversized doctor's coat, and holding one side of the stethoscope to his/her ear for a better read on the dog's heart rate. The sculpture's color is the natural bronze, although the doctor's coat is a well-weathered light blue. The artist's copyright and signature are on the bench, right behind the dog.
