Crossing through an area of thick shrubbery from the days of the Rainbow Springs tourist attraction from the 1950's is a boardwalk that leads to an observation deck for birdwatching. This boardwalk crosses over former exotic plants that were part of the "gardens" that surrounded the springs. Today the Florida State Park Service owns the now defunct tourist attraction and are in the process of removing non-native vegetation and restoring natural habitat. Most of the work is done by volunteers and due to the overgrowth it will take years of hard work to restore the area. Fortunately the boardwalk has seen some repairs and is safe and solid for use. Coordinates are taken from the beginning of the boardwalk.
Approximate boardwalk length (feet): 173.6 feet
What is the boardwalk over?: Thick non-native shrubbery.
Boardwalk material: Wood and recycled timbers.
