Lion's Park, at 622 N. Main Street, Schulenburg, TX is the property immediately west of the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce. This park is a small pocket park but has a cozy feel to the place. It offers a place for a family who has come to Schulenburg on a day trip to let the kids relax, play and investigate the sights and objects within the park while one of the parents steps into the Chamber of Commerce to pick up maps and ask questions or get direction.

Lion's Park has a pathway of red bricks (some are dedicated bricks) which circles the park. Two round metal picnic tables are placed around the the center area, along with three long benches for sitting. There are some other rather interesting items to observe and wonder about dotted along the perimeter of the park. One is an orphaned cornerstone with the date 1922 on it. Next to a small concrete molding of a lion; but, what do you expect in Lion's Park! Then, at the southwest corner of the park is a molded angel playing a harp, only the strings are replaced with musical tubes that act as wind chimes as they get blown into the arm of the angel. A large rectangular rock structure that appears to have been, at one time, a an artificial water fall is next to a mysterious bronze plaque naming a former model airplane company! Facing Main Street is a white picket fence with an entrance and exit made as a wooden lattiice archways.

But the most obvious feature in the park are three large oak trees which provide much needed shade during the summer. These three trees are still relatively young oak trees. The middle tree in the back corner of the park has a fairly large white medal plaque with large black printing that states:

"Park Trees
In Memory Of
CHUCK
McCLAIN"

At first read, I thought there was a typo and the apostrophe had been left out, but then I realized there *were* several trees in the park, so it did mean plural trees were dedicated. I believe all three oak trees are intended to be dedicated to Mr. Chuck McClain. I suspect Mr. McClain may have been a significant member of the local Lions Club, although I found nothing in Google when searching his name.
Location of the tree: Lion's Park, 622 North Main Street, Schulenburg, TX 78956

Type of tree: Oak
