The Grade II listed Railway Inn is located on Biddulph Road.

The description of the building by Historic England reads as follows;
"Railway Station Hotel (Public House) SJ 8762 3/69
Late C18 or early C19 with later additions and alterations. Coursed freestone (now painted); 2 storeys; 2 sash windows in keyed stone surrounds. The simple character of the building marred by C19 projecting bay to ground storey having pedimental feature, wide arched porchway and an inn window at each side. Crow-stepped gabled end on right-hand side extending as castellated parapet to rear wing; tiles. Incorporates on left-hand side a former coach house of similar character but which appears of slightly earlier date. This has one window in keyed stone surround with a similar window to ground storey, doorway with rusticated arch and keyblock, ledged door; iron bracketed eaves gutter; old tiles." The pub is situated across the road from Congleton station and located by bridge 75 on the Macclesfield Canal on the side opposite the tow-path.

The pub today shows its railway connections with a railway theme throughout. It has a covered smoking area and beer garden with a play area for children near to a bowling green, which is home to the Railway Bowling Club.
The pub also offers; real fires, Wi-Fi, newspapers, sports tv events, quiz nights and occasional live music.

In the mid-1800s, the licensee changed the name from the Navigation to the Railway when the Stoke-Macclesfield Railway was opened.
The pub was once owned by Joules of Stone, became a Bass Tavern in the 1960s and was taken over by Punch in 2000.
