The fire department of Indiahoma is located at 900 Showplace Blvd. (This is the main drag, Old Highway 62), on the far west side of town. There is no signage on the building. They operate out of a one-story metal building with a shallow gabled roof. There are five vehicle bays and a small office. The firehouse is located directly west of the town office building.
Indiahoma is a small town of about 330 residents, located south of the Ft. Sill Military Reservation, and the Wildlife Refuge. As with many small-town departments, much of their work is handling fires and rescues in the surrounding rural areas. The departments also assist each other with large or difficult fires. Indiahoma often assists the towns of Snyder and Cache. Their Facebook page shows photos of fires being handled by more than one town. They also assisted in a search and rescue operation at the Wildlife Refuge.
They advertise an interesting safety program called Yellow Dot. A participant places needed medical information and contact details in their glove box, and places the Yellow Dot sticker on their back vehicle window to alert responders of vital information in case the person is unable to communicate with them.
