The Castle (15th century)

Behind the daisy castle of Anjou (1429-1482, wife of Henry VI king of England) hides an ancient cave dwelling also comprising a fuge (a dovecote) and a wine press). Marguerite d'Anjou and her course (about 600 people) lived along the hillside, probably up to Dampierre.
An underground passage connected all the dwellings to each other, which made it possible to move in peace from one house to another. The levee route did not yet exist and the one and only route passed along the castle, which explains the large number of defensive elements along this path: machicolations, loopholes, watch towers ... Le Château (XV ème siècle)
"A vous de découvrir le long de ce chemin, la rue du château et tous les éléments qui témoignent d'une vie passée dense... Derrière le château de marguerite d'Anjou,(1429-1482, épouse d'Henri VI roi d'Angleterre) se cache un ancien habitat troglodytique comportant aussi une fuie (un pigeonnier) et un pressoir). C'est donc un château semi-troglodytique.
Marguerite d'Anjou et sa cours (environ 600 personnes) vivaient tout au long du côteau probablement jusqu'à Dampierre.
Un souterrain reliait toutes les habitations entre elles, ce qui permettait de circuler en toute tranquillité d'une maison à l'autre. La route de la levée n'existait pas encore et la seule et unique voie passait le long du château, ce qui explique le nombre important d'éléments défensifs le long de ce chemin: mâchicoulis, meurtrières, échauguettes..."
