The Purcell Fire Department services a total of 82 square miles of the town of Purcell and the surrounding area. They currently have a total of nine full-time and 12 volunteer firefighters, but are eager for more volunteers. They perform much training at the firehouse, and also through Mid-America Technology Center and Oklahoma State University. Fifteen of their firefighters are licensed EMT's. Volunteers are summoned to a fire by phone text.

Interesting article from the Purcell Register: PFD

The firehouse is a beautiful one-story brick building with a sloped roof over the garage, and another over the office wing. There are four large vehicle bay openings on each side of the building. The fire department operates a ladder truck, two engines, two tankers, four brush trucks, three command vehicles, two rescue squads, a command bus and an all-terrain vehicle. They average 1100 calls per year, with 80% being medical.
