EN: The Notre-Dame-des-Marais church stands by a small park in the historic center of Sierre. The single-nave church faces east and has a church tower on the north side next to the chancel. Inside there are remarkable 16th century frescoes in the side chapel.

The church was originally a chapel, dedicated to St. Theodul, which belonged to the Géronde parish. It was built between 1310 and 1317. In 1331 it separated from the mother parish and became an independent parish church. Then it was greatly enlarged. The new building was completed in 1422; today's church still contains some original substance from this construction phase.

In 1524, it was rebuilt by the well-known church architect Ulrich Ruffiner. He rebuilt the chancel, the side chapel St. Antonius and a new sacristy next to the tower. The tower and the nave were taken over from the previous building.

In 1687 the somewhat larger church of Sainte-Catherine was built and consecrated to the new parish church. Notre-Dame-des-Marais lost its status as a parish church after more than 350 years. The nave was renewed in 1721.

The bell tower was destroyed in the 1946 earthquake and rebuilt until 1948. The somewhat dilapidated church was renovated for the first time in 1968. Another renovation was carried out between 2000 and 2002.

FR: L'église Notre-Dame-des-Marais se dresse près d'un petit parc dans le centre historique de Sierre. L'église à nef unique est orientée à l'est et possède un clocher sur le côté nord à côté du chœur. A l'intérieur, de remarquables fresques du XVIe siècle se trouvent dans la chapelle latérale.

L'église était à l'origine une chapelle dédiée à Saint-Théodule, qui appartenait à la paroisse de Géronde. Elle a été construite entre 1310 et 1317. Le clocher a été détruit lors du tremblement de terre de 1946 et reconstruit jusqu'en 1948. L'église quelque peu délabrée a été rénovée pour la première fois en 1968. Une autre rénovation a été réalisée entre 2000 et 2002.

DE: Die Kirche Notre-Dame-des-Marais steht bei einem kleinen Park im historischen Zentrum von Sierre. Die einschiffige Kirche ist gegen Osten ausgerichtet und hat einen Kirchturm an der Nordseite neben dem Chor. Im Innern befinden sich bemerkenswerte Fresken aus dem 16. Jahrhundert in der Seitenkapelle.

Die Kirche war ursprünglich eine St. Theodul geweihte Kapelle, die zur Pfarrei Géronde gehörte. Sie wurde zwischen 1310 und 1317 erbaut. 1331 löste sie sich von der Mutterpfarrei und wurde eine selbständige Pfarrkirche. Darauf wurde sie stark vergrössert. Der Neubau war 1422 fertiggestellt; die heutige Kirche enthält noch einige originale Substanz aus dieser Bauphase.

1524 wurde sie von dem bekannten Kirchenbaumeister Ulrich Ruffiner umgebaut. Er baute den Chor, die seitliche St. Antonius Kapelle und eine neue Sakristei neben dem Turm. Der Turm und das Schiff wurden vom Vorgängerbau übernommen.

1687 wurde die einiges grössere Kirche Sainte-Catherine erbaut und zur neuen Pfarrkirche geweiht. Notre-Dame-des-Marais verlor damit nach über 350 Jahren ihren Status als Pfarrkirche. 1721 wurde das Schiff erneuert.

Beim Erdbeben 1946 wurde der Glockenturm zerstört und bis 1948 wieder aufgebaut. 1968 wurde die etwas heruntergekommene Kirche erstmals renoviert. Eine weitere Renovation wurde in den Jahren 2000 bis 2002 durchgeführt.
