The bridge is at the southern end of the cut and is hinged on the west edge. The bridge carries vehicular traffic, cyclists and pedestrians and is controlled by traffic lights and stop barriers.

The bridge has a counterbalance weight that is hinged at about five metres above the road deck. The lifting end of the counterweight structure has two wire ropes extending dow to the road deck to lift the bridge.
