The Lamington bridge spans the Mary River on the former Bruce Highway was opened to traffic on the 30 October 1896, replacing a high level timber bridge built in 1874 that was partially destroyed by abnormal floods in 1893. The reinforced concrete bridge comprising eleven spans of 15.2 me has side rails and lightposts that can be removed in case of a high flood, the pedestrian walkway rails are hinged to lay down .
