From wikipedia:

Fort de Kock is a former Dutch colonial fort located in the Indonesian city of Bukittinggi on West Sumatra. Fort de Kock is also the old name for Bukittinggi.

The fort
The fort was built by Captain Bauer in 1825 at the time of the Paderi Wars on Jirek Hill and was initially named Sterrenschans. Later the name was changed to Fort de Kock, after army commander Hendrik Merkus de Kock.

Over the years the fort of the same name, the current Bukittinggi, arose around the fort.

There is nothing left of the fort itself today; only a memorial plaque, a few cannons and the earthen walls still recognizable in the landscape still remind us of the place where the fort stood.
