Gilbert Bécaud, born François Silly on October 24, 1927 in Toulon and died on December 18, 2001 in Boulogne-Billancourt, is a French singer, composer and pianist.
During his career, he performs thirty-one times on the stage of Olympia, where he earns his nickname of "Monsieur 100,000 volts" because of his sense of swing, because of the passions he raised in its wake and its fans who often, in its early days, enthusiastically broke the chairs. He leaves the image of an "electric" man, always on the move. His polka dot tie, his four hundred or so songs and his hand on his ear (to be sure to sing the right one) are other specific images that have made an impression.
My hands, Nathalie, The Day when the rain will come and And now are among the great songs of the artist.
