Texas Dept. of Transportation ROW Sta. 383 - San Antonio, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This is the western-most of three Texas Department of Transportation Right of Way (TxDOT ROW) found embedded within the sidewalk on the south side of W. Hildebrand Avenue on the western side of Hildebrand's underpass intersection with I-10 in San Antonio, TX. The first ROW disc (eastern-most) is at the bus stop at W. Hildebrand and the I-10 Access Road (see WM12424). The second ROW (middle disc) is at the west corner of the junction of Warner Avenue with W. Hildebrand (see WM1247D). This is the third (western-most) ROW that is as the feature of this waymark entry!

This TxDOT ROW disc is mounted within the sidewalk/driveway concrete that allows cars to turn off of W. Hildebrand Ave. and pull up to park in front of either the La Mexico Bakery or the Bad Boys Machine Shop. The stainless steel disc is mounted near the concrete grooves formed within the concrete slabs when it was formed and poured decades ago. The ROW disk is in good condition and easily read. The text of Texas Dept. of Transportation is embossed in an arc across the top of the disc. At the bottom center of the disc is inscribed ROW. A horizontal and a vertical bar form a cross (an X) in the very center. On the left side of the disc is a second arc of text that reads: Elev. - Sta, Hand stamped into the metal of the disc below the X but above the ROW is the number 383. Since other benchmarks within this neighborhood indicate the elevation of this part of San Antonio to be close to 700 feet above sea level, this 383 number is believed to be the identifying Station number: Sta. 383.
