COUPLE NOTES:
If camping please notifi the local police. Required. They just want to know who is there and how long. They will patrol more often when campers present.
Restrooms have received bad reviews, but when I visited in Oct 2019, NOv. 2019 and Jan 2020...the rest rooms were clean.
Finally, if driving note ther are two streets with the same name. Progress AVE looks like it goes to the park, but you cannot get your car there from this street. Use Mt. Vernon St., then Progress ST. which is the parks border.
"It’s a small city park you’re allowed to camp at for free. We stopped here for the night on our way across the country as it’s close to the highway. We arrived after dark and the town felt desolate leaving us a little uncomfortable. However the night was uneventful and in the daylight the neighborhood was quaint. I probably would have felt more comfortable that evening if I had seen it in the daylight before sleeping there. We had found a review on another site from what sounded like cyclists who had camped here before. They said they were comfortable at the site and it was safe. They had written to call the local police department to let them know you’d be sleeping there that night. I did and they were very friendly." ~ Campendium
And the bad bathroom reports came from the Katy Trail users...they posted them here on the Katy Trail @ city park
