The Kiowa County Historical Museum is located in the Rock Island depot which was constructed in 1905. The museum has displays of memorabilia and artifacts from the early days of the settling of Hobart in 1901.
Just northwest of the depot is a brick wall about 7 ft. high. Three double rows of granite blocks are embedded in the wall showing the names of residents and businesses who helped fund this restoration project. The museum opened on May 29, 1993. There are a little more than 100 name blocks.
