The First World War Memorial is situated within the grounds of the Ipswich Railway Workshops Museum. The memorial stands 10 metres high comprises a pedestal and obelisk surmounted by a digger statue cast in bronze, one of only two in Queensland. The names of the (approximately) 300 men who left the works to fight for King and Empire in the European War are listed on the plaques along with the 28 who were killed and the 3 who died on service.
This is the only Queensland war memorial which is not accessible to the general public, but if you ask at the museum entrance permission maybe granted to view it.
