[FR] "L'église Notre Dame de Chalandray apparaît en 1179 dans le cartulaire de Saint Jouin de Marnes, abbaye dont dépendent la cure et le prieuré. La paroisse de Cramard sera rattachée à Chalandray en 1819. Au XIX' l'église romane à vaisseau unique est en reconstruction avec de la pierre d'Angoulême sur les plans de l'architecte tourangeau Joussé de 1878 à 1879.
• En 1896, le clocher latéral. prévu en façade est édifié. Il sera surmonté d'une flèche en pierre. La nef est composée de trois travées barlongues à ogives. Celle du fond est occupée par la tribune construite en 1889. Sur les chapiteaux figurent entre autres. les symboles des évangélistes : le taureau. le lion. l'aigle et l'homme. On y lit aussi les armes de deux évêques de Poitiers et de deux papes Pie IX et Léon XIII. Les verrières sont réalisées entre 1 900 et 1 904 par Fournier, un verrier venu de Tours. La chapelle nord est destinée à la Sainte Famille. La chapelle sud est dédiée au Sacré Coeur. Sur un vitrail, on voit Jeanne Frémiot de Chantal, sous les traits d'une donatrice semble-t-il. Elle aurait parrainé une cloche de l'église. Supérieure de la Visitation d'Annecy. elle aurait passé sa jeunesse chez sa soeur • dans les Deux Sèvres -femme du seigneur de Nuchêze. parent des Francs de la Bretonnière. serait ensuite venue à Chalandray en 1629 à l'âge de 57 ans. avant d'être la marraine de cette cloche qui a été nommée Chantal. Les parties latérales d'un autel marial sont sorties des ateliers Berdeguer de Parthenay et montrent des motifs floraux dédiés à la Vierge. Le chœur du XII^ est éclairé par deux vitraux représentant Hilaire et Radegonde, deux saints du Poitou."
