This cross was erected by a local historian and celebrates the foundation of Reading Abbey in 1121.

It is a Historic England Grade II Listed Building. "Erected 1909 "To the memory of Henry Beauclerk, King of England, who founded Reading Abbey on June 18, 1121, and was buried before its high altar on January 4, 1136". Tapering granite shaft on 3 steps. Tall. Capped with ringed cross. On north side badge of Plantagenets (3 leopards) and on south, badge of the abbey (3 scallops). The erection of this monument was instigated by the local antiquary Dr James on Hurry." link
