The former school was built in 1680 is located facing the village green in Barlaston. It was restored in 1930 and has now been converted into a house.
A stone plaque situated on the front of the property is inscribed as follows;
'THIS SCHOOL WAS BUILT
IN THE YEAR 1680 & WAS
PURCHASED & RESTORED
BY THE PEOPLE OF BARLASTON
IN THE YEAR 1930'
Barlaston Old School and Teacher's House was built in 1845 as a charity school. It was extended in 1861 and became a public elementary school in 1873.
In 1963 the school closed and the building became the Barlaston Library which closed in 2008.
