"Text of the epitaph:
To the children of Hames Boucres who died for France
Those who piously died for the Fatherland have the right to have the crowd come and pray.
Between the most beautiful names their name is the most beautiful
All glory near them passes and falls short.
And as a mother would do
The voice of an entire people cradles them in their tomb (V. Hugo)
Monument offered by Mr. Robert Smith, Mayor and Mrs. Smith
In memory of their son Robert who died at the Battle of Guise on August 30, 1914
