[EN] "The original Liège perron possibly dated from 1292 and was demolished by the French in 1796. The current perron consists of a column about 5.5 m long, flared wide upwards, crowned with a pine cone and above it a cross. The column stands on six steps and is surrounded by three reclining lions. It is about 8,5 m high. The re-erection of the perron is the result of a collaborative project from 1955 by the sculptor Jean Sondeijker and the architect Jean Huysmans commissioned by the municipality of Maastricht. The Saint Servatius Fountain from 1934 was moved in 1992 to the Keizer Karelplein, on the north side of the Saint Servatius Basilica."
