"The Loyal Victory lodge number 975 was established on the 9 May 1835 at the house of William Carlil, the landlord of the Half Moon at Elloughton. Seven years later the Victory Lodge obtained permission to form a District and opened the Duke of Cumberland Lodge at Ferriby. The Lodge's registered offices were at the Odd Fellows Hall Elloughton. The object of the Lodge was to provide benefits to members for death insurance and funeral costs and assistance for sickness, employment and general distress."
