The highly polished, rectangular black marble tablet is on a vertical sandstone slab, at the western end of the side-by-side graves of Roseanna and Albert H J Tufrey. Sawn sandstone slabs surround each grave with an infill of light-coloured gravel. While Albert's plaque is a light brown polished granite, Roseanna's, on the right, has white infill to the engraved inscription. Which reads:
In Loving Memory Of
Roseanna May
Tufrey
14 August 1914 ~ 17 April 2016
Always in our Hearts
Rest In Peace
Being born just after the start of World War One - 'The Great War', 'The War to End All Wars' - she no doubtedly had some of her relatives go overseas to fight. And she may have still been in school when the Great Depression (1929 - 1933) hit Australia, and many parents were laid off. And by the time she was probably starting a family then comes along World War Two - which in many ways was quite different to WW1, with new technologies increasing the killing capacity.
But we can assume that for many years that she had a soul-mate in Bert (Albert), until he died in 2001.
The grave is well cared for, so some of Roseanna's family may still live on the MidNorth Coast.
