In Greek mythology, Galatea is a sea nymph, one of the fifty daughters of Nereus and Doris, called the Nereid.
A granite statue of Galatea, together with a group of four Tritons is displayed in a small park in Brandenburg, Germany. Main belt asteroid 74 Galatea was discovered on September 8, 1987 by Ernst Tempel and named after the nymph. |
